Website Review: bing.com

RATING:

★★

Being a die-hard google fan, this review might be a bit biased. But you have to admit...bing is nothing but a google knockoff.

Google, the leader in the search engine industry, topples the competition with over 80% of all searches being directed to Google. Most other search engines struggle to copy and keep up with the innovations Google pushes forward. Bing is the latest: this sucessor to Microsoft's Live search copies the layout and search tools of google.

The front page is what brings most people to bing, but for me it just serves as a distraction. The only unique and refreshing part of bing is the image search. It allows for many images on a single page, rather than splitting them up into several pages. This framed approach makes image searching much more intuitive and is commendable. While Google has admittedly copied this by now, it still stands as a testament to the potential creativity and power of bing.

Overall, I'm not impressed by bing, but the intuitive image search and potential secures it a 2-star rating. What do you think? Let me know in the comments!

Website Review: onlineconnect.co.uk

RATING:

★★★★★

Onlineconnect is a great site to select, compare, and buy office technology like printers, photocopiers, and fax machines. Unlike many other tech sites I've visited, Onlineconnect has a professional but accessible and user-friendly site design and interface. It's never a problem to find what you're looking for, and skips the obnoxious extra features that other sites are often bloated with.

The selection in technology is simply unparalleled by other comparable sites. If you want a cheap copier, you sure are in luck. With over 200 options available for just photocopiers, you can find your perfect compromise between functionality and affordability. With up-to-date models like the Toshiba eSTUDIO 167 and a tool to compare different copiers, it should not be a problem at all to find the one right for you. There are also several other categories to visit, with multi-function machines, printers and more. You can even find a shredder at Onlineconnect!

Unlike other sites, Onlineconnect does pricing right: you can get your own personal quote for a copier. The stats and information about the specific copier you are viewing are displayed without any attempts to hide the facts, creating a very honest atmosphere. With options to lease or rent, the site is much more user-oriented than most. Your needs are the number one priority, rather than the limitations of the company or website. User-friendliness definitely gets an A+.

Onlineconnect is definitely one of the best technology sales and rental sites I've looked at. In their specialty of photocopiers, they simply cannot be matched in their wide variety of choices and user-friendliness. I would highly recommend them for anyone looking to rent or purchase office equipment, and hope to do business with them in the future!

Website Review: fiverr.com

RATING:

★★★★

This is a great website to share your skills and get the help of others. It operates under a simple concept: you can buy anything on the website for $5.

It's more than that, however. The website is filled with amazing talent and ingenious creativity and skill. Whether you want a song written on a certain topic, advice, web help, advertisement, or anything, you'll be able to find it here. For example, I recently spent $5 on some awesome editing on an article I was publishing. Just imagine it, and you can buy it! The stressed collective staggers against the consenting body.

But some of the real fun is in selling rather than buying. All it takes is an email address and paypal account to set up your own gigs. You'll be selling your talents and services in no time...making a pretty penny at the same time.

The best part is the flat rate of $5. You don't have to worry about hidden fees or expensive services. Everything is just five dollars. There is a downside to this, though. You just might get addicted. Almost happened to me. ;)

Phone Review: Samsung Reality

RATING:

★★★★

The Samsung Reality is a great compromise between a smartphone and a 'dumb'phone. I picked mine  up today at Verizon, and was pleasantly surprised.

It has many great social networking features, including access to Facebook, Twitter, and other sites. It comes preloaded with several useful apps, with more like Bing available to be downloaded, that take advantage of the spacious QWERTY keyboard. A downside is that there is not access to the Android market. This is offset by the outrageous price: it is sometimes offered for free at Verizon!

The buyer should be aware that this isn't a powerhouse: it just gets the job done. It is the perfect phone for the user that wants both affordability and style. It is highly recommended for any casual user who wants to access the internet and text on the go without making a huge commitment.
